Exiftools for image Metadata

Hi guys , I’m today here going to show you how we can retrieve metadata from a image through exiftool. As and pentester whenever we try to complete a CTF challenges or try to hack any vulnhub machines , Some time we have to retrieve information from the given image like user comment or any thing.

So lets get started by installing it in our Kali linux system. Here I’m using apt command to install it

After installation , we look for the help in the tool

Its very easy to use just type exiftool and give the path to the image ,So let me first show you the image .

Now we use exiftools, like this

This is how you can retrieve or extract metadata from any image file through exiftool.
